There are days that mark your life…
and then there is this day.
Good Friday.
The day that didn’t look good at all.
The day that felt like loss, like silence, like the end of everything.
But it was actually the beginning of everything that matters.
I think about Him today… not as a distant Savior, not as a story I grew up hearing…
but as Jesus – the One who saw me before I ever saw Him.
The One who knew every broken place.
Every hidden wound.
Every moment I would feel unworthy, unseen, unloved.
And still… He chose the cross.
He wasn’t forced.
He wasn’t overpowered.
He wasn’t caught off guard.
He chose it.
For me.
For you.
And I can’t help but sit in that for a moment…
Because this wasn’t just nails and wood.
This wasn’t just a crown of thorns or a beaten body.
This was love…
being poured out in the most raw, brutal, and undeniable way.
He knew the cost.
He knew the weight of sin He would carry.
He knew the separation He would feel.
He knew the suffering His body would endure.
And still…
He stayed.
He stayed when He could have called angels.
He stayed when He was mocked.
He stayed when it hurt beyond what we could ever comprehend.
He stayed… because leaving would have meant losing you.
And today, I don’t rush past that.
I don’t skip to Sunday just yet.
Because there is something sacred about sitting at the cross…
Realizing-
That should have been me.
That punishment was mine.
That weight was mine to carry.
But He stepped in.
He took my place.
My shame.
My sin.
My brokenness.
My past.
He took all of it… and nailed it to the cross.
And what wrecks me the most?
Is that He didn’t just die for the “put together” version of me.
He died for the girl who was hurting.
The girl who was lost.
The girl who didn’t know how to speak up.
The girl who carried pain in silence.
He saw her… and said,
“She’s worth it.”
Sis… let that sink in.
You were worth the cross.
Not when you got it all together.
Not when you became “better.”
Not when you figured life out.
Right there.
In your mess.
In your questions.
In your broken places.
He said yes to the cross… for that version of you.
Good Friday is not just about what Jesus endured.
It’s about what He gave.
He gave us access to the Father.
He gave us freedom from sin.
He gave us a new identity.
He gave us love that cannot be earned or taken away.
“It is finished.”
Not “it is started.”
Not “you finish the rest.”
Finished.
The debt- paid.
The shame – covered.
The separation- restored.
And today… I don’t stand at the cross in guilt.
I stand in gratitude.
Because what He did…
gave me my life.
The life where I can breathe again.
The life where healing is possible.
The life where I am no longer defined by what happened to me-
but by what He did for me.
So today, I remember.
I sit in it.
I feel it.
I honor it.
Because this is the day Love didn’t just speak…
Love bled.
And because He chose the cross…
I get to choose Him.
Every single day.
“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” ~ Romans 5:8
Jesus…
thank You.
Thank You for staying.
Thank You for choosing the cross.
Thank You for seeing me-fully, completely – and loving me anyway.
I will never fully understand the depth of what You did…
but I receive it.
Your love.
Your sacrifice.
Your grace.
Teach me to live from it, not strive for it.
Today, I remember…
and I say thank You.
Amen.
