I have realized something in my walk with God that has been both freeing and deeply revealing. I don’t struggle with believing that God is able. When I read His Word and see His promises, I don’t question His power. I don’t question His goodness. I don’t question His faithfulness.
I know who He is.
The quiet struggle in my heart has never been, “Will God do it?” It has been, “Would He do it for me?”
I can believe for everyone else without hesitation. I can pray with bold faith for their breakthrough, their blessing, their healing, their restoration.
But when it comes to my own life, there has been a tender pause – a place that still feels surprised by the idea that I would be included in that kind of love.
Not because God has ever failed me. Not because He has ever been unfaithful. But because somewhere along the way, I learned to live as though I had to earn what He freely gives.
The Lord, in His kindness, has been showing me that this is not a faith issue.
It is a daughterhood issue.
I trust His character. I am learning to trust my place in His heart.
For so many years, my life was shaped by striving – trying to prove my worth, trying to be enough, trying to become someone who could be chosen, someone who could be blessed.
But the cross settled that before I ever took my first breath.
I am not working toward being loved. I am living from being loved. His promises are not for a future, better version of me. They are for the daughter He has already redeemed.
“And all the promises of God in Him are yes, and in Him amen…” ~ 2 Corinthians 1:20
That means His goodness is not reserved for the strong. Or the perfect. Or the ones who have it all together.
It is for His daughters. It is for me.
And maybe, if you’re honest, this is for you too. Maybe you don’t doubt God – you just quietly wonder if you are someone He would choose to pour His goodness over.
Here is the gentle truth He keeps whispering to my heart:
You are not the exception. You are the beloved. You don’t have to strive to be included in a promise that was written with your name in mind.
Father, You have shown me again and again that You are faithful, good, and true. Where my heart still hesitates to receive from You, bring healing. Where I have believed that Your promises are for everyone but me, rewrite that story with Your truth. Teach me to live as Your daughter – chosen, loved, and delighted in – not someday, but today. Let Your Word become personal in my life, and help me rest in the finished work of Jesus. Thank You that Your yes includes me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Reflection
- When you read God’s promises, do you see yourself included in them? Why or why not?
- In what areas of your life do you find it easier to believe for others than for yourself?
- What would change if you began to live as someone who is already chosen and already loved?
- What old beliefs about your worth is the Lord gently inviting you to release?
- What promise from God do you feel Him asking you to receive personally today?
