Today is Pentecost Sunday – a beautiful reminder that God didn’t leave us to do life alone. He sent His Holy Spirit to comfort us, guide us, strengthen us, convict us, and remind us that we belong to Him. He also sent His power – power to overcome, power to endure, power to stand, power to love, and power to live for Him.

Funny little story… when I first accepted Jesus, it was at a fully Pentecostal church. Worship lasted a solid 2–3 hours and let me tell you… people loudly AMEN-ed and Hallelujah-ed all over the place. Coming from a very reserved Catholic background, I remember looking around thinking: Whew Lord… what did I walk into? Funny now because I’m the one Amen-ing and Hallelujah-ing on Sundays!

I learned so much there about the Holy Spirit. Looking back, I’m thankful because God uses different seasons and different people to teach us and grow us. Over the years, as I continued growing in the Word and growing in my faith, I learned even more. I learned that the Holy Spirit isn’t just a Sunday feeling or an emotional moment.

He is our Helper when we don’t know what to do.

He is our Counselor when life feels confusing.

He is our peace when anxiety is loud.

He is our guide when we need direction.

He is our Comforter in grief.

He lovingly convicts us when we drift.

He gives us strength when we feel weak.

He empowers us, transforms us, and works in us in ways we could never do on our own.

And if I’m honest? I need Him every single moment of every single day.

I think sometimes we hear words like power and automatically picture something loud or dramatic. But I’ve learned the power of the Holy Spirit also shows up in quiet ways.

Sometimes His power is helping you forgive someone who hurt you.

Sometimes His power is helping you keep going when you want to quit.

Sometimes His power is giving you peace when your world feels shaky.

Sometimes His power is simply reminding you that you are loved and that you are not alone.

Today I’m thankful – thankful for the fire of God, thankful for grace, thankful for growth, thankful for His power at work in our lives, and thankful that God still meets ordinary people in extraordinary ways.

“Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,” says the Lord Almighty.

Oh, and Amen and Hallelujah!
